WI Prisons Seeking 'Gender Dysphoria' Psychologist
Wisconsin’s prison managers are looking for a six figure, part-time psychologist to focus on sex changes for inmates.
The state’s Department of Corrections last week posted a job listing for a gender dysphoria psychologist consultant.
"The Psychological Consultant LTE is responsible for providing psychological evaluations and treatment recommendations for persons in our care who request medical gender transition services such as hormones and surgery. This position also provides Letters of Support or Letters of Readiness for such interventions when appropriate. This position assists in coordinating gender-related care within the Department and provides relevant training and consultation to administrative and facility staff,"
the Department of Corrections wrote in the job posting.
The position is based at the DOC headquarters in Madison, and pays $90 an-hour. That's $187,2000 per-year. Though the state says it may not be a full time job.
"Anticipated Shift: 8:00am-5:00pm flexible hours (15-20 per week)," DOC added. "Applicants must be licensed as a Psychologist in the state of Wisconsin with an unrestricted license."
But even at 20 hours per-week, $90 an-hour comes to over $93,000 a-year.
Congressman Tom Tiffany, who is the Republican candidate for governor, said either way it is unacceptable.
“The Wisconsin Dept. of Corrections is hiring a taxpayer-funded ‘Gender Dysphoria Psychologist,’ This position provides criminals with treatment recommendations for sex-change surgeries,” Tiffany wrote on X. “Wisconsin taxpayers should NEVER be forced to foot the bill for this.”
The gender dysphoria psychologist job is one of dozens of open positions in Wisconsin's prison system. The DOC is also hiring guards, cooks, and even secretaries.
DOC has set a deadline of March 12 for applicants to apply for the gender dysphoria psychologist job.
